Megalopolis Gravel Classic
After the first – and highly successful – Megalopolis Gravel Classic in 2025, we return with the announcement of of Megalopolis Gravel Classic 2026,which will take place on the weekend of April 25–26, 2026, in Megalopolis.
Alongside the rides, a range of parallel activities will complete the experience. Young cycling enthusiasts will take center stage at the skills track set up in the main square of Megalopolis, while local gastronomy will highlight traditional products from the region.
Megalopolis Gravel Classic embraces cycling in its most enjoyable form, offering an active getaway with a strong travel spirit and four different riding options.
Participants can choose between two main routes of 50 and 100 kilometers, a shorter 25-kilometer fun and touristic ride around Lake Trapezounta, and a 5-kilometer City Ride on Saturday afternoon, offering the chance to explore Megalopolis from a different perspective.

The area
Until now, Megalopolis was mainly known for its power generation plants and the facilities of the Public Power Corporation (PPC). Its skyline was associated with large industrial smokestacks and the gray cloud of smog that one would see when approaching the area.
Times, however, are fortunately changing, and the effort to make energy production more “green” now constitutes the new reality. As a result, Megalopolis is evolving, aiming to highlight its natural landscape, its history, and its local gastronomy.
This entire journey toward green development naturally includes the bicycle, in its most fun and exciting form, through the Megalopolis Gravel Classic!

Today, Megalopolis is a wonderful tourist destination and the ideal starting point for discovering the beauties of Arcadia.
Friendly, well-kept, flat—and therefore bicycle-friendly for all ages—built at the heart of a fertile plain and surrounded by mountains with stunning routes that pass through picturesque villages, it is a city with a rich history and a promising future, well worth a visit.
What’s more, it offers easy access both from Athens and from the major cities of the Peloponnese.
So, we’re waiting for you on the weekend of April 25th and 26th, to enjoy two days full of cycling, fun, and new friendships!
Our vehicle of choice is the gravel bike, but we certainly won’t say no to a classic MTB either. The choice is yours!

What bike
should I bring?
The Megalopolis Gravel Classic, as its name suggests, is a gravel event. The best choice is obviously a gravel bike, which combines elements from endurance road bikes and mountain bikes, and is characterized by its ability to move comfortably across all types of terrain while covering long distances.
Participants can, of course, ride their own MTB - the type of bike is not a limitation - or rent a gravel bike specifically for the event from Athens Bike Rental.
